The Tote Box
So…..
This week I went through the “Tote Box”.
This container has canvas weight fabrics, finished bags, and pieces that might be in…..pieces.
My other tote making supplies–like hardware, webbing, bling, twine, and zippers–are very well organized in this IKEA cabinet.
Even my rivet press stands ready for service here. Along with all the extra heavy duty threads that I use in tote making and my Kam Snaps.
Each drawer has a purpose, this one is for the cotton webbing I use for straps. I try to stay very organized so I don’t have to go searching for every little supply.
Anyhow, this post is about the stuff in the “Tote Box”. And will be part one of a two part post. Although I was very productive this week, I didn’t get everything finished that I would have liked to this week.
I actually had a four finished projects in there. A simple lined tote that I made as a sample, a beer bag that was supposed to be a hostess gift but the party was canceled, and on the right a tote left from the many that I made for a wedding, and then there is a pencil pouch.
Along with lots of fabric, there were also some ideas started and not finished.
There were two beer bags partially cut out and I finished them in a couple of sewing sessions.
I love the interior I used for each. One is pieced from a charm pack from Ruby Star Society. Have had it for a few years and intended to make a pillow…..didn’t happen. And cheetah print? Yes!
Both of these bags could totally be turned inside out and useable. Right?
I found some pieces cut out for a Sandhill Sling and cut out the rest that were needed and put all the parts into this tray.
And then I went down the “rabbit hole”. I had been wanting to make a new bag for me. But I wanted to try something a little different. Soooooo….
I started an entirely new sling. II purchased this RSS fabric back in May and thought it would be perfect for the front of the bag. I quilted a FPP star onto Soft & Stable which I hadn’t used in a sling previously. I also used the Soft & Stable for the strap. I’m looking forward to finishing this one but now waiting for a zipper!
Hoping to get both of those finished next week, too. And then go back to the rest of the projects from the tote box!

Thanks for the inspiration today! We’re going to a tennis party next week and the beer bag will be the perfect hostess gift.
Hi Trish! I would love to see the beer bag when you get it finished! They are SO easy to make!
