Heart Block–Scrap Buster!
I am slowly sorting through all my Ikea Alex drawers. They are already organized pretty well–I’m just reacquainting myself with their contents.
I have one drawer I save for “orphan” blocks. Some of them are test blocks that I will probably never use. Others were not used in a quilt or project because I didn’t think they fit. And others, I just didn’t like. I don’t consider them either WIPs (works in progress) or UFOs (unfinished objects). They are just little orphans.
I also tossed these hearts in there after I made nine of them.
My intention was to add more as time went by. No deadline. So when I pulled them out of that drawer, I was like “Hey It’s almost Valentine’s Day! I should make more.”
So I did. Fortunately, I had put the background yardage in the drawer, too, so I didn’t have to guess which white fabric I had used one year ago!
This time I went into my container of red scraps and used my tutorial for the heart strip block.
All together!
And then I threw all fourteen up on my small display wall.
SO PRETTY! And heartfelt! I think I need to make more! Blue this time! Maybe when I come across these blocks next year, I’ll have enough to make a quilt!
