Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long Block 7
Block seven, Pumpkins APlenty from Snowy Day Quilting came out over 2 weeks ago.
I was going on vacation but planned on having it done before I left.
But when I looked at it.
So….Many…..Pieces!
I procrastinated and went to North Dakota. And after not quilting for EIGHT DAYS, I was ready to take that block on!
And how many pieces is so many pieces????
This many!
But when I got back, I enjoyed cutting out and stitching up every one of those small bits.
I think I may have been suffering from quilting withdrawal!
When dealing with this many pieces, accuracy is very important! I just bought a 1/4″ foot at the Bismarck Quilt shop when I was in ND. (Okay. I already had one that came with the machine but it wasn’t very accurate. It had this thin blade for a guide that would bend at the end of each piece. Or maybe it was beginning. Anyhow.) This new foot is super duper great.
There were a lot of corners to flip. I made one pumpkin just to test the pattern.
Then I “mass produced” the rest. That’s what I call chain stitching. Just feeding each piece through the machine without clipping the thread. And that’s usually when I make stupid mistakes because I get sloopy. But this time I did a lot of measuring and trimming.
And it really turned out PERFECT!
Even the back seams are perfect! (I don’t very often show the back because usually I screw up on at least one seam!)
Like I said, this was fun! I think this block is my favorite. I know–I’ve said that about several others!
I really like the colors I used for these blocks. So bright and cheery!
Block eight is already out. Gotta get at it!
