Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long Block 5
This week’s block of the Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long is actually two blocks! Woo-hoo! Win-Win!
Kathleen McMusing made one pieced and the other applique. I liked both but went with the pieced version since the other blocks are all large centered objects thus far, I thought I’d continue with that design. Of course, there are seven more blocks to go and that whole theme might not work out!
As usual, I went through all the quilt designers blogs to get their tricks and techniques before I even printed out the directions. One of the designers, Karen at Tu-Na Quilts had a color theory post. Very interesting if you have any questions about how to pick out colors.
I’m almost out of my background fabric. Scheesch. Poor planning on my part! I thought about switching to another light colored one but didn’t have any on hand and who knows when I’ll actually journey out to a quilt store to buy new! I don’t want to order online because for this fabric I want to make sure it plays well with the others.
So here’s my version of the acorn block. Hmmmmm…..I don’t think it looks like an acorn. Maybe a little like a house with a green chimney. Hmmmmmm….might have to do the applique block after all!
It looks better with all five…
So far, fun and easy!
