Cats in Pajamas — Finished
Finally!
I feel like I’ve been creating quilty cats for a year. But, not in reality. I started right before Easter and made two pillows for my granddaughters.
Then I made a third pillow for grandson Arthur….
and a fourth for Fae…..
Now a baby-sized cat quilt is finished! And soon on its way to Fae’s new sister, Fiona Elizabeth, already two months old.
I ordered fabric for the backing and binding from Etsy.
I thought that the Minky was so cute with all the little cat heads. But…..
Before using the backing, I did a test quilt. I saw a post on Instagram where a dark Minky backing had come up through the stitching to the front of a light colored quilt. So glad I had read that Instagram post because it was true! Yikes! Just here and there the stitching pulled up the black threads.
Might not be able to see it here, but there are bits of black in the stitching….
I went to our local quilt shop and bought some light blue Shannon Minky and used that instead. I will use the cat minky for another quilt in the future. Maybe the Riley quilt that I already have cut out. It won’t be wasted.
I quilted with a serpentine stitch that came with my sewing machine.
I also stitched in the ditch around some of the seams in the cats. When I make a baby quilt I know that it is going to be washed a lot and I want it to be very durable. I even stitched the binding down twice!

Washed it in some “free and sensitive” detergent, took pics, and packed it away to send to Homosassa.
One kitty quilt done, one more to go!

Beautiful! Love the backing too!
Thanks Terry! I love how it turned out and am looking forward to hearing how the little girls like it.
