Basic Tea Towel

Basic Tea Towel

I love making tea towels for hostess gifts. Whenever I visit someone, they get a tea towel set.  Whether they want it or not! I try to make them reflect their lifestyle. We were headed to North Myrtle Beach earlier this summer and our friends that we were visiting go to the beach just about every day.  So I needed … ….oh there’s more

Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long Block 8

Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long Block 8

I’ve often said that I love paper piecing. All the points are nice and pointy.  It’s a very accurate method of putting a quilt block together. It’s also a bit of a challenge because it’s very easy to screw up the entire piece if you aren’t paying attention. Having said that, I just finished making Block 8 for the Fall … ….oh there’s more

tyger tyger burning bright

Three weeks ago I posted about getting my UFOs done before I started anything new.  And I did pretty good in those three weeks. The “Well Loved Quilt” is finished, delivered, and well loved again! The “Tyger Tyger Burning Bright Quilt” should be finished by this weekend!  I’m making it for a friend’s 60th birthday. I’m trying a new quilting … ….oh there’s more

Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long Block 7

Block seven, Pumpkins APlenty from Snowy Day Quilting came out over 2 weeks ago. I was going on vacation but planned on having it done before I left. But when I looked at it. So….Many…..Pieces! I procrastinated and went to North Dakota.  And after not quilting for EIGHT DAYS, I was ready to take that block on! And how many … ….oh there’s more

DIY Mermaids Tail

DIY Mermaids Tail

I had been planning on making granddaughters Adley and Piper mermaid tail blankets. One of my Unfinished Projects.  Had the fabric for several months and was headed to visit them soon. I already made them for Addison and Kendall. So I went out here on my blog looking for the tutorial, “DIY Mermaids Tail”. And after much searching, I finally … ….oh there’s more

My story about a Well Loved Quilt

My story about a Well Loved Quilt

Once upon a time, actually probably about 18 months ago, Lauri, my daughter-in-law, asked me to bring her childhood quilt back to life.  I didn’t hesitate to say “yes”. I’ve never “restored” a quilt.  And after I got it home and took a good look at it I thought it might be impossible to restore.  I might even end up destroying … ….oh there’s more

In My Garden

vinca

I haven’t been posting about my garden much this summer.  The last post I did was in April! And now I’m going to whine a wee bit. It’s been a rough year for my flowers. (and me)  First the bitter frosts that wiped out my big plumeria along with many other plants in my yard. Then we decided to put … ….oh there’s more

Tyger, tyger…..

Tyger, tyger

I had planned on putting up block 7 from the “Fall into a QAL” today.  But, typical of me, I got distracted and did other stuff and didn’t even start cutting it out! And it’s really a very cool block with five pumpkins.  But I think maybe all those tiny bits that make up this block made me procrastinate. Next … ….oh there’s more

Project Updates

As I mentioned last Thursday I have a bunch of unfinished projects that I want to finish before I start anything new. So I am dedicating the month of August to finishing all my UFOs! (that’s a clever quilters term for unfinished objects!) I started out by cleaning and organizing my sewing room. Decided this guy has to go downstairs.  … ….oh there’s more

rabbit quilt

Now that the totes and the tutorial for the Summer Tote Challenge are finished, I’ve decided that I’m not starting anything new for a few weeks.  I have SO many projects already in the works, I think it’s time to finish a few of them. If you saw this pic yesterday: The background in the photo is my “Tell Me … ….oh there’s more
