Yellow Plumerias

I’m pulling fabric from my stash and I ordered some for my next quilt. Haven’t decided on the design yet but I do know it will be a very happy project! And I have all the fabric before I start! Well, at least for the top! I LOVE gingham. It’s so summery and happy. Just makes me want to go … ….oh there’s more

Me-Made Monday

me made monday

I’ve started on my new sewing adventure—making and altering my clothes! My Instagram feed is no longer dedicated just to quilting and home decor. Lots of handmade clothes are now popping up. Also posts about mending and restructuring. The point of #Memademay is to make your own clothes, mend what you have, or restructure clothes so you will like them. … ….oh there’s more

HST love quilt

This quilt has taken forever….but I’m DONE. I was thinking about all the steps to make a quilt from beginning to end. For me, it’s Design (see photo above), Cut, Piece, Stitch, Baste, First Trim, Quilt, Second Trim, Label, Binding, Glamour Shots. With a lot of pondering in between each step about color, fabric, placement….always lots of pondering. And quite … ….oh there’s more

HST Love

quilting hst quilt

I’ve changed the name of my Summertime Quilt, It’s now HST Love, as in Half Square Triangle Love. Thought it was appropriate since it’s mainly HSTs. On my last quilty post–two weeks ago–I said that I find basting “cumbersome” and I was procrastinating. Let…me…explain… I do “wall basting”. I learned this method from the blog ChristaQuilts. Which is pinning the … ….oh there’s more

#MeMadeMay2022

piper's drawing

I’m not much into social media–with the exception of Instagram. I was drawn to it because it is mainly photographs with some hashtags and brief descriptions. More recently it has turned into a video reels. Haven’t jumped into that yet. My user name, designsktg, is public. Which means I get a lot weird people following me. Kinda scary but I … ….oh there’s more

Okay. Gotta admit that I got that title from “Only Murders in the Building”. I know everyone has already watched it but I’m just now. I’m behind in all facets of my life! I haven’t wrote an organization post for awhile and thought it was about time to revisit that category because my sewing room is moving! Again! Just right … ….oh there’s more

Scattered!

Posted on April 21, 2022 by Kathy GreenApril 20, 2022

That’s me! I decided to move my sewing room and now I can’t find anything. Yikes! Plus I had a bunch of projects with deadlines but I got them finished yesterday! And delivered! Yippee! And I had friends stop by from Houston for an overnight visit. Lots of Fun! But like my husband always says about me, I’m always “putting … ….oh there’s more

Summer Quilt

Posted on April 14, 2022 by Kathy GreenApril 13, 2022

Soooooooo…. I thought I’d be pretty much done with this quilt by today. Nope. I didn’t order enough backing fabric. Duh! I needed about 6 more inches. Went to order a half yard. I started out ordering this fabric from Fabric.com but there was a button that said I could get it on Amazon. Since I’m a prime member–free shipping. … ….oh there’s more

Summer Quilt Top

denim summer quilt

Top finished! It seems kind of odd to be calling this denim quilt a “summer quilt”. Summer quilts should be light and airy but this quilt will be neither light nor will it be airy. I’m calling it a summer quilt because I plan on using it as a table cover on picnic tables. For summer! (Of course, I live … ….oh there’s more

Reading in April

I managed to read two books this month. The first was “Bewilderment” by Richard Powers. The author is one that Margaret Atwood recommended in the book “Burning Questions: Essays and Occasional Pieces, 2004 to 2021”. I liked the writing style but didn’t like the story. Kind of a takeoff from Daniel Keyes “Flowers for Algernon“. If you read that book … ….oh there’s more
