Quilty Progress
A few weeks ago I sent my last finished quilt off to our niece for a gift for her surprise wedding! (Surprise to me, I think she knew about it!) I try to keep a few quilts tucked away just for these occasions. That was the last one in my inventory so I’m starting to think about making a scrappy quilt for the next event.
The niece was really excited when she received it. She called me right away and said that when she saw a box from me her first thought was “it’s a quilt!” Always happy when my hand crafted works are loved!
Riley Blake Designs is holding a Quilt-A-Long. It’s free. I am not joining up. But. I did like the first block. And thought it would be super for a scrappy quilt. And since I’m thinking of getting rid of all of these wee pieces to help my organization, I think I might do an entire quilt with just this one block.
So pretty!
My heart strip quilt is growing. (You can get my free pattern for the heart strip block here.) I work on it during my “sew cool and crafty” workshop since it’s easy. I can leave the block and help one of the other women and come right back it. I just cut up several 1 1/2” colorful strips plus white squares in 3 1/2” and 1 1/2” sizes. Then chain stitch away!
I’m not sure how the heart strips block quilt will end up since I haven’t made a plan yet. Size? Borders? Strips between each block? No deadline on this one so all those decisions will be made at a later date. A much later date!
I do need to get the Dinosaurs quilt put together for my grandson. When that is finished I promised a quilt for a friend in trade for a stain glass piece from her.
Looks like the scrappy quilt with Riley Blake blocks is low on the priority list!
