Works in Progress
I’ve been a bit distracted and pulled away from my “creative cave” for the past few weeks and have no finishes again! But I’m back at it and thought I’d show you a few projects that are in the works.
First, the updated shopping tote tutorial is complete. But I wanted to make ONE more bag to do ONE more proofread. I already made these two totes while updating the tutorial.
This is the third tote. I had just completed the machine embroidery for the front panel when a friend gave me these cool jeans to add to my denim collection. I thought this color really coordinated well with the dragonfly.
In the Sew Cool! Workshop at the Old Homosassa Learning Center we will be making these toiletry bags which just use a placemat, a 14″ zipper, and ribbon. I did not create this tutorial. If you click on this link, you too can make these clever bags! The video is a little long but very easy to follow. I haven’t made one yet but intend to before class today. (Since I will be helping teach it!)
I’ve had a few emails and comments about the shark softie tutorial that I made for SewMamaSew.com. The website is no longer “live” and I have not heard back from the woman that I had originally worked with from the blog. I put a lot of time and effort into the pattern and tutorial so have decided that I will post it here on my blog. Possibly next week.
In my quilting world, I plan on making some of the blocks from Moda Blockheads 3. A new block is released each week for a total of 56 and they come in 3 sizes. Each designer is also creating a final layout for a quilt. I really like the first three blocks although they look challenging. I might not make an entire quilt. And I’m not putting any pressure on myself to get it done. I might just use the blocks in other projects like pillows, hot pads, or even on a tote. I have this fabric from Zen Chic for Moda left over from a quilt I made Jessica.
I like the subtle pattern and the bright colors. I even have a few flying geese left over! And Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic fame is one of the designers for this quilt.
The weekly blocks are free. And there is nothing to sign up for. You can join the Moda Blockheads group on Facebook or just go to the Moda website and follow the links to the designers pages.
That’s it for this week! Back to the sewing room!
