What can I say?
I had big plans for this year. Bet you did too. All for naught.
“Man Plans, God laughs.“ I’ve seen that phrase used many times in our new reality. Yep. I had plans for Tuesday’s post. And today’s post which was supposed to be all about my Finished Norah Quilt. and Norah was just about done.
but I fell🙁
Yikes. The insult of getting older but not wiser. I do yoga. Walk. Bike. Kayak. Yet with all that regular fitness regimen, when I fall—I break. I like to refer to it as my “brittle bird bones”. Because that sounds a whole lot funnier than osteoporosis.
And that mishap seems to have smashed the tibea bone in my knee. Have to have surgery. No weight on that leg for three months.
Steps are a challenge. Living on the water, most of the houses are stilt homes. Fortunately this one only has five steps. ONLY FIVE. Which have been a challenge. I have a friend that has had major surgeries on her leg and has been giving me suggestions. Thus far I have not fallen down the steps.
I intend to continue posting here and will return to my creative endeavors. As I said, stairs are a challenge. And my wonderful sewing room is on the second floor—14 steep steps. I will not be attempting that. I’m sure as I figure out my new normal, I’ll get some of my supplies downstairs. But I will be taking that slowly while deciding what I really need.
I am posting this on Thursday, July 9th, the day I’m scheduled to have “minor” surgery to fix the “Displaced Tibea plautea fracture”. (Is any surgery minor?)
I’ll let you know how it goes next week!
