We Have Arrived!
Made it to our new home on Friday. I say new, but we have been coming to this house every summer since Piper was about 2 years old. She’s 13 now. We bought the house a year ago and spent four months there last summer. Now that our home in Homosassa has sold, we plan to spend April through November here. Or something like that. Depends on how cold it is. Terry nor I are big fans of snow and ice!
When we arrived, Athena remembered being here last year and made herself at home! This was one of her favorite spots.
My son spent a few days with us. We sat out on the back deck wrapped in quilts to watch the Northern Lights. No pics–I’ll be prepared next time. We didn’t get all the colors that typically comes with the lights but it was till amazing. It looked like God was holding a flashlight down from Heaven.
The moving truck showed up on Sunday and all the boxes went into the attached garage. I’m taking it a box at a time so I don’t get overwhelmed. No deadlines.
The whole North Dakota family was here on Sunday for a Mother’s Day lunch. Alan, Lauri, Riley, Piper and Adley. It’s been a few years since I had a Mother’s Day with family.
Onto another subject…..
Our back yard in Homosassa was the beautiful Chassahowitzka Nature Preserve and we would see manatees, otters, dolphins, and the occasional alligator. Here in Mandan we have a prairie for our back yard. We have seen white tailed deer, pheasants, turkeys, and other little birds but this Sunday was the first time we saw Mule Deer. I was so EXCITED.
And back to my creative life…..
In Old Homosassa, I had a “Grrrrrl Garage”. Plus a separate office/sewing room. And I loved all of it. BUT….
Here I have A WHOLE ENTIRE BAY of a 3 bay shop!!!!!!! Mine is the section with the smaller door.
Yes. I’m so excited.
It needs some work. (That’s an understatement!)
Like more natural light–plans are either a French door or large window on that gray wall.
That’s a heater hanging from the ceiling. I don’t think there is any way to pretty that up but I’m really happy to have heat! Need to do some painting and some kind of flooring and furniture. I gave most of my other stuff away because it was time for new!
While I’m really excited about my new sewing space, it will be a few weeks before I’m able to stitch up any quilts, totes, or softies. But I’ve got a few handcrafted projects that I’m working on. Hope you hang in there to watch the progress.
