Valentine’s Day Ideas
Two steps forward, one back. That’s what my life has been like for the past few months. But, looking at the bright side, I’m still always that one step ahead!
I’m trying to get my sewing room perfect. Organized. Neat. Tidy. And easy to keep it that way. I’m also working on one project that I completely forgot about that I started several years ago. Found it while I was going through storage containers. More about that in a future post. But while I’m trying to get all that done…..
I’ve been thinking about the Valentine’s Day a lot. I LOVE making heart shaped items. And I’m running out of time to actually get something done!
I wanted to make this heart block that I designed into a larger quilt. Maybe baby quilt size. Not that I have a need for a baby quilt at this moment! But I think it would be really cool. In neutral colors for a boy or girl!
This block is basically a log cabin. I should have plenty of time before Valentine’s Day to make a small quilt, right? Wrong? Yeah. Not looking good for me getting a little quilt done before the day of hearts!
While I was looking for the post on that block I came across numerous other “heart” ideas that I’ve done in the past. If you need any ideas for Valentine’s projects check out the following!
I made this Valentine’s hot pad last year from Jacquelynn Steves. It’s so pretty. I can’t bring myself to actually use it!
And heart pillows! Everyone needs a few of those!
Here are two designs for heart themed kitchen towels. I made the first set for myself.
And the second set was a gift.
I’ve also made heart quilts for two of my granddaughters. The first was for Piper. It was my first queen-sized quilt—and my last! Okay. I might make one again someday. But for this one I was using my Bernita and it didn’t have the quilting throat. It was impossible to get the quilting between all those sweet hearts done. I ended up hand quilting them! But it turned out very nice!
I love this photo of Piper with Maggie on her quilt. Piper REALLY doesn’t like dogs. She was born loving kittens. From the day she met Maggie she didn’t trust her. Piper has NEVER had a bad experience with a dog. She just doesn’t like them. On the other hand, Adley LOVES dogs. And cats. And horses. And any animal you might name. Especially Peppa the Pig.
And the second heart quilt I made was for Adley. This one was twin-sized and so much fun!
Adley not only loves all animals she is crazy for blankets. The kid takes an armful everywhere she goes. No Adley, we can’t go to the grocery store with six blankets!
Only 21 days until the day of Hearts and Flowers!
