Unfinished Projects
The “In a Heartbeat” quilt might be my only finished quilt this year.
I’ve been a little distracted since the house is actually SOLD!
We have been trying to sell the house for almost a year. Took it off the market for three months and the first people that toured it on this go round, bought it. Knowing that I would need to clear out a lot of stuff when the house sold, I started doing my own version of “Swedish Death Cleaning” at the end of last year. My dad passed away several years ago and I was in charge of cleaning up all the minutia he had hoarded. I knew back then that I would not leave that type of mess for my kids. (I’ll probably leave some other kind of mess.) But even with me going through all my storage, I still am not prepared for this move.
Tossing. Donating. Packing. Shipping. And now I’m getting ready to do some selling! Moving sale this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! After living here for 21 years (the longest I have ever lived in one house!) I still have way too much stuff.
While sorting through all my storage areas, I came across projects that I had totally forgotten about. (Unfinished objects also known as UFOs).
I was planning on crocheting a table cloth for a friend. With a very small crochet hook. Started it in 2000. Never made enough blocks to make that table cloth! Hope she isn’t still waiting for it! 24 years! I really want to make something out of those blocks, probably not a table cloth but something useful. I need to practice my crochet skills!
Well-loved clothing that I had intended to mend along with a denim jacket that needed some flair! I think I would like to try “visible mending”. There are lots of You-Tube videos and blogs with information on this mending. I won’t need a sewing machine for this method and could probably do it in the car.
A whole lot of cotton clothesline that I never used for bowls. That will have to wait until I get my creative cave set up in my new home.
The beginning of an embroidered cap that got tossed into a hidey hole.
In the coming weeks, I thought I’d share a few of these UFOs which are now all current projects starting with the embroidered cap.
And I gotta get that one finished before I pack my sewing machines away!
Look for that next week!
Meanwhile, here are my first daylily blooms! Very glad to see them before I move.

Hang in there. We moved into a condo after 28 years in the same house. Daunting, but doable. I loved the word minutia as I inherited most of my mother’s that I had to deal with. Hence I’m not doing that to my niece, although she will wonder about all my crafting. Good luck and happy move. I’m hanging in there with you in spirit.
3 days of “moving sale” and we still have so much stuff! Another week of packing and we are headed off to our new adventures!
Congratulations on the sale Kathy. Let me know if you have any fabric you want to part with! I do quilting and sewing and working on upcycling clothing!
