Tuesday Thoughts
I finished “bird by bird” by Anne Lamont in June. I had read most of it a few years ago but decided to start from the beginning and go through the whole thing. And finish it. Which took me an extra long time since it is a self-help book about learning to write novels. Something I do not intend to do.
But there were lessons to learn. And the one I was most impressed with was to sit down and write. Every day. Set a time. And that’s what you do. No wavering. This is a commitment to oneself.
And while I will not write a book, I do write this blog and lots of times I have things to say and just never take the time to jot it down, or take the photo or scribble a note to myself.
And I told myself, as soon as I get things all unpacked and everything neat and organized, and all the walls painted, I will do just that—set aside time everyday just to work on my blog. I have so many wonderful and amazing ideas! (Maybe not so wonderful or amazing, but they are ideas)
And you know, I never seem to be unpacked, or neat and organized, or have the walls finished, or quite ready to set aside a time each day to do that.
But I am doing that TODAY! Writing, snapping pics, thinking, posting, updating.
Hope I can stick to my new resolution!
Last week I spent many hours painting walls–hoping to have an update on my sewing studio next week! Also worked on the dresser that I am currently refinishing. But mostly I spent the week with three of my grandkids.
It was our annual Grammy Camp!
This year we went to the International Peace Garden in Bottineau, North Dakota. Entrance is in Canada and we had brought along our credentials so we could get back into the USA.
We stayed in a condo on Lake Metigoshe. Beautiful views!
The International Peace Garden is known for its huge Cacti & Succulents Collection, Carillon Bell Tower, and 9/11 memorial. The gardens were quite lovely. And I did not snap enough photos!
Home again and back to painting walls and cutting up fabric!
