Tuesday Meanderings
Did you take advantage of the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and/or Cyber Monday sales?
I’m happy to report that I helped the economy this weekend by making numerous purchases. Just doing what I can do….to save the world.
I didn’t buy as much as I really wanted to! So many good deals on fabric and patterns.
Back in 2020 I decided that I would not buy fabric or supplies unless it was for a project already planned and ready to go. I’ve stuck with that goal. And it hasn’t been easy as I see new designs come and go.
Not having so much stuff in my stash has caused delays on projects but because of Etsy I usually have whatever I need within a week. I’m also trying to support my local quilt shops, Beyond the Stitches here in Florida and Bismarck Sewing and Quilting in North Dakota. Unfortunately, neither shop stocks Ruby Star Society or Rifle Paper Company fabric—my two favorites so, again, I turn to Etsy.
I ordered this fabric through Etsy for a Christmas gift project and was thrilled that I received it in just a few days. It’s Ruby Star Society.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get all the fabric I ordered. And it hasn’t been resolved but I’m not naming the name of the shop because it is small business and the woman cutting and shipping might have had a turkey in the oven, cranberries in a can, and a toddler hanging on her hip. But with Etsy, it will be corrected. Just could be awhile before I receive the missing yardage.
Since I didn’t know when I would receive the necessary pieces, I ordered more from another Etsy shop. (Had to do it! I have Christmas projects!)
Besides fabric from Etsy….
I downloaded a softie pattern from Wee Wonderfuls,
I’ve given almost all my softies away! Time to make new with a kitty pattern!
And a tote tutorial From Noodle-head.
I’ll be using those two patterns in the new year. (OMG! 2024 is right around the corner!)
I planned on ordering some clothing patterns from Leisel and Co. but the sale was over on Saturday at midnight and I was looking on Sunday morning. Whoops!
While I didn’t hit any of our local stores this time, I figure I was supporting several small businesses!
Every time a package comes in, I always cry “oh look-more presents! For me!” I also do a little happy dance. Terry has learned to ignore this display of happiness.
There were so many good deals last week, and while I did make several purchases, I would have liked to buy much more!
Now I need to get back to my creative cave and make use of all the goodies!

You are one busy lady!!
Take time to enjoy the holidays!
Thanks Diane! I like being busy! Looking forward to all the holiday events and family time.
Love the bag, wish we could purchase canvas and leather straps here. Also I am doing the same re purchasing only what is needed for a project. I need to get thru my mother in laws 80’ s floral stash before buying more.
No blk Friday purchases. Some deals but with the exchange rate and shipping fees, most items were priced beyond a deal and my budget.
I bought leather handles from Noodle-head .com in the past but I have also gone to thrift stores and bought worn out purses and used their leather handles. I think you can use leather belts, too. I plan on doing more thrifting for my projects in the future.
