The start of another wonderful year. 2024.
Really looking forward to 2024.
I’m starting it out with a some meanderings about the past year.
Happy to say that I broke no bones. Big Yippee on that! (I practice yoga every few days to improve my balance plus do all the weight lifting that is supposed to build up all those supporting balance muscles.)
Got some traveling in over the past year. Mostly to visit my kids and grandkids. North Dakota and DC.
Did a lot of sewing. Totes, bags, quilts. And one sock monkey. I think I made four quilts in 2023–I actually finished one the day after I got home from DC last week. Hope to have some photos taken so I can post on Thursday.
Bought a house in Mandan, North Dakota to be close to my grandkids. I am not a fan of cold weather so will only be there from May through October. Tried to sell our Florida house but that didn’t happen! It’s now off of the market but if someone knocks on our door and wants to buy the house we are willing to negotiate. Meanwhile, I get to stay in my beautiful home from November through April.
And last week it was my birthday. I’m a Capricorn! I’m SIXTY-EIGHT years old. How did that happen?
Unlike most of my peeps, I enjoy birthdays. I love to celebrate that I made it through another year. Yippee! When I turned 60, I made the whole month of December my birthday month and celebrated every day. When I turned 64, everyone learned “will you still love me when I turn 64”. (I know that tune is now running through your head.)
For this birthday I asked for a visit to ZooLights at the Smithsonian Zoo. I LOVE light shows, firework displays, and parades. Since we were in DC for Christmas, my daughter and her husband made it so. We had dinner at a really cool diner, Dukes Counter, right across the street from the zoo. Not fancy but yummy and fun. Jes also made my FAVORITE cake that we had after the light show. And there was ice cream. And wine.
And thanks to my bday, my local quilt shop, Beyond the Stitches, sent me a 15% off coupon. I bought a whole lot of Kona Cottons for an upcoming quilt.
I am so looking forward to our new year! Great stuff is right around the corner!
