The Rest of the Dolls
I shared the story about my Folk Singing doll Emily last week.
Now for the rest of the story….
After I finished all the rabbits, I started making dolls for the #The100dayproject.
The first was a mermaid. I just made a smaller version of the pattern I had designed for mermaids for the granddaughters about four years ago.
Her head turned out a little wonky but I thought she was cute.
Granddaughter Piper said, nope, not cute. Okay. She’s a little plain. Back to the drawing board.
I decided that the dolls needed more details and tried a little harder with the Layla.
Gave her a cute little side ponytail, a mini skirt and short boots. I think her face is adorable! And those crazy bangs!
She came along on our trip to Phoenix.
Layla was very happy to be back home and shared a Blue Moon with me.
I thought Layla’s arms were a little too long so changed up the pattern a little for the next doll, Frida.
Frida has felt flowers in her hair, a braid and a bun on the back of her hair, plus a lovely Mexican inspired skirt and lace shawl.
Frida went to live with an artist friend of mine.
The very last doll that I finished was Dany.
Dany was at the suggestion of my step-son. He thought I should make all the Game of Thrones characters. I started with Dany because I thought she was a cool character. I finished her the same week that Dany turned evil and wiped out the entire population of men, women and children. No one spared. Yikes!
Anyhow, her details….
Dany is confined to a shelf in the bedroom. I just can’t trust what she might do next! She will not be going on any trips with me!
That’s all the dolls thus far. I plan to make more but I’ve been traveling and not sewing. I’m always happy to get back home but am also happy to hit the road! Before I get back to doll making, I promised a friend that I would design a cross-body bag for her. So that’s next on my list! Along with a wall-hanging that’s ready to be basted. Then back to the dolls. Really…..
