Tell Me a Story Quilt — Night Time Version
Finally Finished!
I started this quilt back in the summer of 2017. More than 4 1/2 years and it’s done! Definitely the longest WIP in my sewing history.
It’s taken so long because I ran into trouble at every turn. Mostly because I didn’t know what I was doing or tried to do the impossible with fabric. But that has never stopped me before!
I used several different quilty methods on this project. Of course there is just plain old piecing.
And then there is applique. The rabbits are raw-edge applique with Heat ‘n Bond Lite then hand embroidered.
The moths and stars are paper pieced.
The moon is applique but I tried a different method. I cut out a large circle of cardboard, wrapped the fabric around it then covered both with aluminum foil. Next I pressed it with a hot iron. You can see a step by step demo on the aluminum foil method here! Always trying to learn something new!
I had considered hand quilting the entire quilt but was too eager to get a FINISH for 2022. I did use some shiny DMC thread to hand quilt the moon.
These photos of the whole quilt are not the best. I was in a BIG hurry to get some photos so I could post about a FINISH for 2022! I’ve had a BUSY week and kept procrastinating on taking the snaps. Yesterday after my weekly ukulele jam I rushed home to hang the quilt at my favorite photo spot on the corner of my deck.
The light was great but my photo skills not so much. Hoping to get better photos when I finish the DAYTIME VERSION which is on my cutting table ready to get its final trimming! Woo Hoo! Maybe two finishes for 2022 in February!
Had to add this last snap of the view from the deck. We’ve had some very cold weather and I’ve lost some plants but the 10-day forecast shows perfect Florida weather. I always feel like once we hit March, all is good. Looks like we might be having an early spring! Another Woo Hoo for that!
