Summer Quilt

Soooooooo….

I thought I’d be pretty much done with this quilt by today. Nope.

I didn’t order enough backing fabric. Duh! I needed about 6 more inches. Went to order a half yard. I started out ordering this fabric from Fabric.com but there was a button that said I could get it on Amazon. Since I’m a prime member–free shipping. So that’s where I bought the first four yards for the backing. Went back to Amazon and tried to order half a yard. Nope. Had to order two yards. I know I can use it on other projects so wasn’t too bothered about the extra.

Supposed to be here on Tuesday. By 8 pm.

At 8 pm I checked status. Now it won’t be here until Wednesday. Or Thursday. Or Friday.

Or NEVER!

I ONLY NEEDED SIX MORE INCHES!

Again. Poor planning on my part.

So

Instead of sharing my finished quilt, here are the first blooms in my garden.

I LOVE APRIL!

day lily
My first daylily of the year. It’s supposed to be pink. I think that’s peach.
daylily
And my second daylily. The first bloom of the daylilies in the trellis garden.
walking iris
First Walking Iris bloom. Just like the daylilies, these only last for one day. I have to check everyday! Don’t want to miss them!
caladium
The pink caladiums are just starting to pop up!
don juan rose
The Don Juan Roses are over achievers this spring.
jarthropha
Jartropa blooms most of the year. The butterflies are loving it!
bromeliads
These strange bromeliads are blooming now. They only flower one time a year.
spiderwort
Spiderwort. A Florida Native that is invasive. They do like to take over. But they are so pretty!

Okay. That’s it for this week. Hopefully that fabric shows up so I’ll have some progress on my Sum-sum-sumer time quilt!
