Stitchy Thoughts
Hey! I’m alive! Totally helpless and completely dependent on the kindness of others….but alive!
Surgery went well. My leg was double triple quadruple wrapped since the surgery but the doctor finally removed it yesterday. He says the surgery was a great success but I can’t put any weight on that leg for many many many weeks. I see cabin fever in my future! Anyhow. I’ve been bingeing on Netflix (My bestie Kimmy Schmidt YES Tiger King NO) and reading and thinking.
Before the big slip and fall, I was picking out Christmas fabrics for a quilt. I was thinking a holiday quilt should join my annual tradition of new apron and potholders. I won’t be able to use my sewing room since it is on the 14th floor of the house (just kidding but it feels like it’s that far away) but that will not defeat me! Even if I could get up there, I wouldn’t be able to stand at the cutting table for very long.
Why not English Paper Piecing? I love making hexies so I’d be able to get my quilting “fix” in. By the time I get it hand stitched together I might be able to climb up those 14 steps again to do make the matching apron and potholders! I’ve got a plan! And since it is “Christmas in July” when all of us hand-crafters start putting their Christmas projects together, I got busy making my final fabric selections. I did a lot of searching for options that would look great with fussy cutting and ended up with this bundle, a curated fat eighths of fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics–Little Town and Merry & Bright.
Art Gallery fabric is so soft and beautiful plus I’ve been following Amy Sinibaldi, the designer of Little Town, for years. I love all the whimsical characters, stars, and little houses.
I ordered the bundle from SoJoFabric on Etsy.
So many options for fussy cutting and these are only 3 of the 21 pieces!
I’m eagerly waiting for the arrival! Now to pick out the perfect EPP quilt pattern!
