“Squirrelly Girl” Softie
Last week I posted about my first project with the “Squirrelly Girl” fabric by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda.
This week’s project is…..
Miss Butter!
Actually the Butter Sisters.
Cause I couldn’t stop making them.
Miss Butter is supposed to be a chef but I decided that perhaps I needed a squirrel banjo player.
And then the Butter Sisters started a band. You will note that the baritone ukulele player on the left is left handed. We had to change out the string positions just for Betty. Betty Butter.
I bought the pattern at the Fat Quarter shop along with all the fabric.
I skimmed over the instructions and then started cutting and sewing. I just used felt for the eyes and face rather than embroidery for the “test” squirrel. I might have been in a hurry. Then I put the chop stick right through Miss Butter’s ear.
If I had actually read the instructions, it does advise one not to do that.
So I slowed down and read every little detail and followed along.
The pattern and instructions are very clear. The creature is small–about 6″. The only really fiddly part is boxing the bottom of the body.
The tutorial calls for a 2 oz. fishing weight! So these should not be used for throwing.
The arms are jointed with little buttons.
All the bits and pieces.
The little arms….
The back sides…
The band got a gig for Halloween and have been practicing….
