Softie Shark Tutorial
This is the second post that I’m updating in my 20/20 vision.

I’m reposting this one for a different reason than the update for the Basic Shopping tote. I originally designed this pattern for SewMamaSew.com. Unfortunately the website is no longer “live” and I’ve had several requests over the past few months for this Shark pattern. I have attempted to contact the person I worked with at SewMamaSew.com but received no response. So I’m posting it here for all those that are interested.

Here’s the PDF for the tutorial: Softie Shark Tutorial and this is the PDF for the pattern: Shark Pattern
I designed this pattern back in September 2016. Haven’t looked at it since. When I started getting emails and comments about the pattern, I made some careful consideration before I decided to repost it. Then I went in and checked it out and thought I’d better test it before I posted it here. The best way to do that is to actually make the shark. I’ve been wanting to get back into making softies so this was a perfect excuse.

I found one error. Not that bad. If you are an experienced sewist you would have said. That’s wrong. And made it right. Now that I have stitched up the pattern after these many years, I have fixed the mistake.
It’s a fun pattern. And easy. Especially if you use wool-blend felt. I love felt. No fraying. The only difficult part is turning the fins right side out! The interfacing that I use is VERY stiff.

Then I decided to do a test shark with denim. The pattern includes a 1/4″ seam allowance so it really doesn’t matter what fabric you are using. Again, the issue was turning the fins right side out. The denim frayed a little along the top but I’m saying that it’s just a little “shabby chic!”. If I make this shark again, I plan to use a less stiff interfacing to see if the fins stand up like I want them to.

If you make the shark, send me some pics or post on instagram with #softieshark and let me know how you liked the pattern!
