Shopping Tote with Ruby Star Society Fabric
Before staring the “Dinosaurs” quilt last week I had to finish this shopping tote that I was asked to make for the “Pamper Me Please” raffle package for the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival which is this weekend.
The Basic Shopping Tote is easy, versatile, sturdy, and functional. I changed this version a little—I made it a bit larger so I could use some of my leftover squares from the Perfect Picnic Quilt. (I’m slowly whittling away on my Ruby Star Society Strawberry Friends stash.)
The height of all four sides is 13 1/2”. The ends are 9” wide and the front and back are 13 1/2” wide. Just a little bit larger than the Basic Shopping Tote.
I took it out for a walk…
As usual, I had to put something in the pocket…..
How cute is this bird made from bits and pieces of Ruby Star Society fabrics quilted together? I’m thinking of making a garland of birds for my workshop. (That’s what I’m calling my sewing room/office/music room now!–workshop!)
The basic bird pattern is from Jacquelynne Steves. I used it to make Christmas birds for my bannister a few years ago
I think I’ll adjust the wings a bit for my garland so the bird appears to be flying.
I made a hang tag for it with some small squares of Ruby Star Society fabric and added the care instructions on the other side.
I introduced it to my “Perfect Picnic Quilt”.
They look nice together. But. I’m keeping the quilt. The tote is off to the raffle!

Love that it’s reversible! The colors are perfect. Good luck with your festival.
Thanks Terry! I hear your festival was fantastic! We do have a little hurricane on the way but that’s not stopping us!
