Reality Bits & Bites–This week
So.
How many quilts do I really need to make?
I certainly don’t need more for me. And a lot of my friends and family (Not all) have already been gifted a lovely home crafted quilt.
So.
Do I really need to make more?
Reality is……
Yes. Yes. I do. For my own mental health. I need to make quilts. I need to touch the fabric. Smell the fabric. Buy the fabric. Cut the fabric in bits and pieces and then sew the fabric back together.
Thought I would be a little closer to having my sewing taj mahal this week but ……
Got the quote back from the painter for painting the remainder of the rooms in my house I haven’t already painted plus the shop….
OMG! Who knew that I could buy a used car for the amount I would need to finish the painting?
Estimate to refinish the floors in the sewing space….
oh, not this year.
It’s put my plans a little behind but I can paint the walls myself and I can have a lovely sewing spot with chipped concrete floors. (The industrial look!)
And on the positive side of progress, I have two almost completely installed French doors.
Not a great photo but this is the new French doors off of my office/music room that connect to the deck.
And here are the doors from the outside of my sewing palace. Someday there will be a little deck there. Someday. (Not this year)
Progress is slow, but it is progress! We are creeping forward!
I am back to sewing on the dining room table. Making curtains. And a quilted wall hanging is soon to come. Not the first time or probably not the last time that I have done my stitching in the dining room. When we have our big weekly family dinner–I will tuck all the equipment away. (and you might notice that I have not pulled my big Babylock or Brother machines out yet. This is the basic machine that I bought last year to get me through the summer. And it’s a pretty good trooper!)
Speaking of family dinners, here is granddaughter Adley and me. In almost matching outfits. Totally accidental. But it was a good reason to have a little Kodak moment. (I possibly need more colorful socks!)
Besides sewing, I have been refinishing furniture, and building furniture, and the knitting practice continues. I am no longer forecasting knitted socks for Christmas gifts. Everyone might get knitted coasters!
And I have peonies! Which reminds me of my youth in western Pennsylvania. My mom had peonies and she was always dusting them for ants. But I recently heard that they need ants to bloom. Is this true? Inquiring minds need to know and this inquiring mind will probably do some research!
I have been gardening in the south for over 40 years so these new Northern blooms are always a pleasant surprise!
More next week!

I love peonies too. Always Ants when brought in and put in a vase!
Still unpacking here! And trying to get a landscaper to trim bushes! None call back…May have to get out the shears…
I had planned on doing some gardening this year but looks like that isn’t going to happen so it’s nice to have flowers blooming that Lauri planted.
We have been trying to get a plumber. No luck! Don’t even return the calls! Good thing we don’t have a serious problem!
