Quilty Thursday — A New Quilt Start
Yesterday morning I got up and cringed when I saw my sewing room/dining room.
This is why I only want to have one sewing project going at one time.
Or subtitled, Why I need to have a dedicated sewing space–with a door.
Lucy is still hanging on the wall–waiting for fabric to finish.
A new quilting project on the table.
Drapery fabric hanging on the curtain rod–I’m testing to see is this rod can hold the weight of the fabric plus blackout lining. Bought the same rod for my office/music room for the French Doors. Looks good–going to send out a bat signal to get a victim in here to install the rod! Only then will I start cutting out and sewing the drapes.
There was also a crochet project laying there but I cleaned it up before I snapped this picture and put it in my handwork basket.
I know, it doesn’t look all that cluttered but I’m not showing you the far corner that has numerous containers of fabric, tools, and rulers. Precariously stacked.
Okay, I digress.
What I want to show you today is my newest quilty project.
A HALLOWEEN quilt!
Do I need another spooky quilt? No. But Rifle Paper Company brought out their first Halloween themed fabric line so I had to check it out. Turns out, I really only liked the one–the fabric the folded pieces are sitting on. The rest is this year’s Ruby Star Society line–Good Spirits.
I plan to make the Mabel pattern from Penelope Handmade. It’s easy-peasy. Just 4 1/2″ unfinished squares. Set on point.
I already started it and here is where I am today!
I bought two yards of the background fabric. But, I was cutting it up into 4 1/2″ strips and when finished, realized I had cut one at only 4″. Duh! I have ordered another yard and now I have to WAIT for its arrival.
In addition to this quilt, I am quite determined to use up ALL of my Halloween fabric.
This is what I have left over from last year’s quilt.
I’ll be making a table runner and other assorted spooky goodies. I also have some larger skeleton pieces that I might make into wall hangings.
And since this post is already getting too long, I’ll give details on next Thursday.
Happy Quilting!
