Quilty Thursday
Last week I was looking for my Fall decor. Once upon a time, I had a pillowcover. I had pumpkins. I had a squirrel. I had a quilt.
I found the pillow cover. The only boxes I hadn’t gone through were the ones still taped up and marked Christmas. I ripped into them and found the quilt. (I have no idea why I packed my “Bears around the Fire” quilt with my Christmas pretties!)
But none of the other Fall decor was in there and a lot of Halloween is missing. I must have given them all away! What! I remember while packing up to move, pulling all of my autumn and Halloween pieces out and spreading them over my bed. I had a really hard time picking out what to keep and what to thrift. I guess I gave almost all of it away!
Oh well, on a bright note—now I have an excuse to make more!
On another issue, I thought I would have a quilt finished for this week–either Lucy or Spooky Mabel. But, due to my poor planning, I didn’t have batting for Lucy nor the backing for Spooky Mabel. I had ordered it a couple weeks ago but it STILL hasn’t arrived! I did not order from Etsy–I ordered it from a much larger company that said that processing took 1 to 2 business days. Guess they must have been busy with other orders.
Not to be stopped on my quilty projects, I started making a Halloween table runner with all the hexies I had from last year along with new ones I am making this year.
I don’t know why I love hexies. Maybe because I can make them while I’m watching TV so I feel like I’m not wasting time. “Look at me–I’m sewing–and watching “Only Murders in the Building.””
Anyhow, I’m making the table runners kinda like I made my 2023 Halloween Quilt.
I am making four blocks which I’ll stitch together after I finish them in a “Quilt As You Go”style. Plan to pull an autumnal color theme together for the backing and then I can just flip it over when spooky season is over.
I made a whole lot more hexies from this year’s spooky fabric and now I’m having fun putting the hexie “flowers” together.
I have three of the blocks finished. One more to go.
Between this table runner, Lucy, and Spooky Mabel, I WILL HAVE A QUILTY FINISH NEXT WEEK! (I hope.)
