Quilty Progress
I was really excited to get back to some UFOs (unfinished objects) after completing the costume challenges from last week. So happy to get back to quilting and the first one I started working on was the “Tell Me a Story” quilt–Daytime Version.
I’ve been working on the Nighttime Version for over four years. Seriously. The longest WIP (work in progress) ever for me! I almost tossed it into the trash a few times but it’s finally ready for borders and then quilting.
I’ve made quite a bit of progress since reporting on the Daytime version in my post from the beginning of October.
Two Hummingbirds!
Five butterflies flittering in the Sun!
Four rabbits with tubular red flowers, purple coneflowers and black eyed Susans.
I did a small zig zag stitch around the red flowers and their supporting vines. Outline stitched around the rabbits, and what I call a “Scribbly” stitch around the yellow flowers. Next up are the purple coneflowers with the same scribbly stitch and then I’m on to hand-embroidering features on the rabbits. I would have had the coneflowers done but I didn’t have purple thread! It arrived yesterday so I’ll be back at this quilt today!
I’m mixing several sewing methods in these “Tell me a Story” quilts. FPP (Foundation paper piecing), raw edge applique, regular piecing, and eventually hand embroidery. I’m really challenging myself!
Looking forward to finishing these and then working on some Christmas projects!
