Quilty Progress
I made a LOT of progress on the “Happy Little Things” block of the month quilt along. The latest block was released on September 2nd.
Blocks one and two. I think the colors are happy!
I’m also making a Christmas version,
I might rename this one “Sweet Little Things”. So much candy and those sweet little reindeer!
Here’s a detail pic of the center.
I had two challenges with this version of the block. The first was keeping all those one-directional fabrics headed in the correct direction! The second was trying to get all of those bits and pieces to line up. I ended up turning to spray starch. The ribbon is still a little off but I’m okay with that. Once it’s quilted, that won’t be a big deal. (I hope)
I learned the spray starch trick from the Turkey Block in the “Fall Into a QAL” BOM that I did last year. So many tiny parts and the designer suggested using spray starch to keep them in line.
I also ripped out and replaced the pink gingham fabric from the first block. I wasn’t pleased with how wonky the border looked:
The next block comes out in October so I should be able to get a few more rows finished of the Mystery Christmas Quilt. I might actually get that one done before Christmas!
All three quilts on the design wall. Quilty Progress!
