Quilty Goals
In continuing with Tuesday’s post, I have one firm resolution.
I will never purchase jeans, slacks, dress pants, shorts, yoga pants, tights, or leotards that do not have pockets again. Even if the apparel is on clearance. Just Say No.
And you know those little tiny almost fake pockets that they put in women’s jeans, shorts, dress pants, and slacks? Next time I’m fooled into buying one of those, I’m writing the manufacturer to suggest they start making real pockets because that’s what real women want!
End of my one firm resolution and off the soap box!
Thought I’d throw a couple pics here of my view on Tuesday. I usually show gorgeous sunny blue skies with reflections in the water of the sawgrass. While we quite often have those days, in the winter when the tide is low and the wind is blowing in a certain direction, the water is scarce in the canal. Typically taking the boat out is impossible during those times. The birds love it, though. They can easily pick up the little fish and crawly creatures in the shallow water and along the edge. In these photos you can see two types of egrets–the Great and the Snowy, along with ibis, and wood storks.
Back to Quilty Goals…..
While traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday I was on Instagram a bunch. One of the quilters that I follow had posted the Valentines Quilt she was working on.
What?!?
Man, it wasn’t even Christmas!
Now that it’s January, I pulled my quilt design out for the Heart Strips Block and all the sample blocks I made from it last year. I thought, wow, I have time to make a Valentine’s quilt! And then, in pursuit of doing less but more this year. I said to myself “nope”. I’m not making a quilt based on my own non-existent deadline. I might use the blocks in other projects but for now–I’m doing less.
I did pull out my “Candy Cane” quilt to display for Valentine’s Day. It’s all red and white. No Christmas trees. Thought it was appropriate for that special day.
I would still like to use the “Heart Strips Block” for a scrappy quilt. Maybe that will happen this year!
I will finish my two “Tell me a Story” quilts–in 2022. I have one basted and working on the embroidery on the second. I’m thinking about hand-quilting them. Which will definitely take me many many hours.
The quilt I started for Christmas 2021 and didn’t get finished will be a Christmas 2022 quilt.
Since I started quilting many years ago, I have wanted to make a “Storm at Sea” quilt. Here’s an example….
It looks difficult. While I could probably figure it out with graph paper, a ruler, and colored pencils, it would be a lot easier to buy a pattern! I found one for foundation paper piecing but it’s only a 7 1/2″ block. I would like the blocks to be much larger. And that would be a LOT of paper!
So that’s my plans for quilting in 2022. And I have more than 11 months to get them done!
