Quilted Beer Bag tote
According to Instagram, March is National Quilt Month. And I have three totes cut out and in different stages of stitching. What was I thinking? I should have cutting up bits and pieces to create ten more quilts, So when is National Tote Month? Anyhow, more about the totes in weeks to come!
One tote is quilted. So I’m posting about it today–’cause this is Quilty Thursday here on my blog.
I needed a hostess gift for a friend that was throwing a Bunco Party. In case you think that is a weird illegal thing, it’s a dice game that old ladies like to play while drinking. Maybe young people play it but I never played it when I was under 60. Back then we played pinochle or euchre. Now we play Bunco and Mexican Train. ‘Cause we don’t want to lose track of our suits or spill our drinks.
Anyhow….
This is a free pattern that I designed. And have made it numerous times. You can get the PDF here: Beer Bag Tutorial
A while back I posted about “Mod Meow” fabric from Amanda Niederhauser for Riley Blake.
I made my daughter’s cat, Whiskey, a blanket with the fabric.
I didn’t have much of the fabric left but I did still have the panel with all the cats—minus one. Too cute.
My friend loves cats. I think she has one. But he’s a stealth cat. Never seen when I visit. Well I think I saw a tail disappear beneath a couch once. but she insists that she has a cat.
Anyhow…..
I had a wee bit of the mod meow fabric left and a lot of the cats from the panel.
I cut the fabric up. Added some matching solids. And did some stitching.
Then I sliced that up some more.
And was able to put together enough to have pieces for the interior of the tote.
I had a few big pieces that I added stabilizer to and put on the exterior of the bag along with a mod meow cool cat.
And then I put them together!
And it’s reversible!
And, of course, I had to add a pocket peep!
My friend loved it!
More next week for National Quilting Month!
