Progress!
Yes. Progress has been made! Boxes are emptied–I almost feel like I’m HOME!
We will be doing many renovations this year so not all the boxes are emptied. That will happen after each space is completed. There are several boxes neatly tucked away in the garage. Very neatly–I can even get my car in there!
My office has been my point of concentration this past week. I first thought this room would be the “morning” room. A place to drink our coffee, catch up on the early news, and watch the sunrise. The view is amazing.
But that hasn’t worked out. So, I turned it into a place for ME! (Well, I have to selfishly admit that most of the spaces are for me!)
My new office!
I’m not hanging anything on the walls just yet–waiting on French doors that will replace the sliding glass doors in this room.
I sold and gave a lot of stuff away before the big move. I no longer have file cabinets and do I really need a file cabinet? Most of the stuff like bank statements and insurance papers I can download from the Internet if necessary. So I’ve pared all that silly paper work down and found these storage file boxes that fit into the fabric storage cubes for the Kallax from Ikea.
I made pretty ones with Rifle Paper Company canvas a few years ago but was disappointed with how floppy they are. You can check out that post here. One I made with Peltex and the other with By Annie Soft & Stable. I’m on the search for something similar to the storage file boxes but cheaper. I’ll be doing some research!
I also needed a printer stand. Once again, no longer have the file cabinet that the printer sat on. I ordered one from Amazon. (Had planned on getting it from Ikea but shipping is more that the cost of the cabinet!!!!)
Anyhow. I’m not what I would consider “handy”. I can sew a quilt and bake a yummy dessert, but building tools are a challenge. I decided that if I was going to order furniture online, I needed to put it together myself. I have helped Terry build a shed, bed frames, and other assorted furniture. But never by myself. Terry helped me get the 45 pound box into the house (although if he hadn’t been there I would have wrestled it onto a blanket and drug it to my office, been there, done that!) He also let me borrow his battery powered screw driver. Mistakes were made! BUT I BUILT IT ALL BY MYSELF! (Well, Athena was there for moral support!)
So I didn’t sew or do anything crafty this week. But I built something.
Woo Hoo!
I have one little corner in this entire house organized and pretty!
Progress!
On one more note, I have a hedge of lilacs! In many shades of lovely. And they perfume the air! How did I never see these in the many years that we have been traveling to Mandan? Anyhow, it was a lovely surprise and I am enjoying both the colors and the perfume!
Looking forward to the next blooms to surprise me!
