Pinkalicious Christmas
I have a cookie exchange party every year and it’s the “most happiest day of the year”. Friends and family come in from all over the country. Maybe not just for the cookies (although that is a good reason) but it is an excuse to get together and the timing doesn’t conflict with either Thanksgiving or Christmas.
So I should be baking and cleaning and cooking to get ready. But instead. I decided that I needed to turn the screened room into a Pinkalicious Christmas.
Not for the first time. One year everything was Pinkalicious. My clothes, the decor, the dog, and I even made a few pitchers of pink cosmopolitans.
I had it all decorated but thought it kind of looked a little dull–it needed a little more pizazz. I decided to make a table runner. I know. I should be baking and cleaning and cooking. But I’d much rather be sewing!
My daughter-in-law gave me this fabric a while ago for Christmas. (Thank you Lauri!) I made a few masks with it back in 2020 but still had quite a bit left. I was waiting for the perfect pink project! And this was it! A table runner for my outdoor table!
I pulled out some pink gingham for the backing. And used some Hobbs Heirloom Fusible for the batting. I have used this in the past and have not been happy with it. It doesn’t actually fuse very well–no matter how long I press it. I would not recommend this product. But, I wanted to use it up and this was a small project.
I did a little quilting with my sewing machine.
Up next was the binding. I didn’t want to take the time to make binding (I still needed to bake and clean and cook after all!) and had this Chennile It binding tape * that I ordered ages ago. I watched a YouTube from Sharon Holland to figure out how to attach the binding. Easy Peasy.
I added the Chenille-it to both short ends first. It takes four pieces–two on each side. Then I did the long sides.
Threw it into the washer then the dryer and Voila–I had a fluffy fun edge!
Next I added it to the screened rooms decor.
Fun! I love it! I don’t know if I would ever do a full-size quilt with the Chenille It but it’s great to add a little flair to small projects like this one.
The table runner joined a few other flamingos out there.
And there might be a couple more that didn’t make it into a photograph. Hey, I live in Florida! We are all about flamingos!
Now I need to think of a fun pink cocktail before Cookie Day!
