Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL–Week 2
I started out this quilt with the intention of also making a wall hanging with the same pattern and fabric plus start the Norah Quilt from Sunny Day Supply. Oh yeah, I also want to use some of the fabric for lining totes. Perhaps overzealous.
Although I did buy extra of each of the selections, now reality is starting to set in. I’m leaning towards using some of my solid color fabrics that I’ve had forever for the wall hanging so I’ll have enough for the strips in the Norah Quilt plus new totes. I’ve been picking out fabric that I have from Ruby Star Society to use for the strips. If you want to check it out, go to Sunny Day Supply where she shares all about the free quilt. I made one two years ago and really enjoyed the process. Plus I like how it turned out. Sometimes I like the process but not very happy with the outcome. I’m looking forward to starting on Norah soon. Here’s the Norah I finished in July 2020.
Meanwhile….
For the Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL, this week we are supposed to build blocks 2, 3, and 4. Next week will be the 1 blocks. Here’s a diagram of the quilt and the blocks by numbers:
This is where I left off last Thursday.
I very very carefully laid out the blocks so I wouldn’t have identical blocks too close together. And here are all my 2, 3, and 4 blocks.
My design wall isn’t big enough so I clipped them together and laid them out on the floor in the arrangement I plan on using.
Then when I looked at the above photo I realized I had messed up one block. Scheesch. I’ve got one row backwards. Back to the bat cave!
Fixed! In the following photo, the column on the left are the “3” blocks, in the middle is the “4” block, and along the right are the “2” blocks.
Seven blocks finished and nine to go! Next week I’ll finish the “1” blocks! This is really an easy quilt and I could already have it finished but I have other sewing projects that I’m working on and I’m just following along with the SAL. Takin’ it easy!
Oh, one last snap. Have to have a pic of the kitten! She’s becoming quite the little model! (And also a destroyer of quilts!)
