Potholders

Posted on April 3, 2025 by Kathy GreenApril 2, 2025

This project was supposed to be my main priority when I finally setup my new sewing machine. I cook and bake. A LOT. Potholders are pretty important to me. But. I am easily distracted and made many other hand crafted items first. And besides, I still had all those reindeer potholders I could use! But finally, I can put my … ….oh there’s more

Once upon a time….

butterflies in March Wrap UP

I posted on my blog EVERY WEEK DAY! And I had a LOT of followers. Because it wasn’t all about sewing or crafting. It was about life in the community. Lots of photographs. Of family. Of dogs in the hood. Of gardens. Of cooking and baking. And I moved away to concentrate on all the stitchy crafts. Which I totally … ….oh there’s more

Easter Baskets

Easter Basket DIY

I made these Easter Baskets last year. And posted about them the week of Easter. The first went to my grandson, Arthur, (obviously) the second went to the prize for the toddlers at the community Easter Egg hunt. Fae won–my littlest ukulele player. (With a little help from me!) Easter is April 20th this year. So I thought I’d again … ….oh there’s more

Embellishing the Jacket — Part 2

hope jacket tulip tree

Part 2. In a never ending story. There may very well parts 3 and 4 and on into infinity. But for now this is it. I have some fabric in the cold-white-north sewing studio that I’ll be using to add some flair to the collar and cuffs. When I get back there. When it is above 45 degrees during the … ….oh there’s more

Embellishing the Jacket — Part One

embellished jacket with swallows

One of my projects that I want to finish this month is adding some flair to this Sam’s Club denim jacket that I bought a few years ago. I made the “Hope Tattoo” FPP quilt block a few weeks ago for the back of the jacket. Didn’t like the light blue. Not grungy enough. So I just made the word … ….oh there’s more

Lucy Quilt — Finale

lucy the quilt

So many Lucy’s out there….. And now, Lucy the Quilt. Named for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Because this is a quilt with Stars and Diamonds. (Or maybe they are just squares set diagonally.) and I kept humming the Beatles tune the entire time I was piecing her. (Lucy, the first human, was also named for the song!) I … ….oh there’s more

HST Love Quilt Revisited

HST love quilt

Lots of stuff going on in my life besides sewing and crafting. This week I have no finishes! Fortunately, I had a reader, Rita, reach out to me about her “HST Love” Quilt that she just finished and I really wanted to share her finished denim quilt. How amazing is this. Her denim choices for those HSTs just make them … ….oh there’s more

Hope and FPP, again

hope tattoo quilt block

Last week I posted about the quilt block that I had planned on sewing onto my denim jacket until I changed my mind. (That’s what I do best–change my mind!) This week I put the finishing touches on the Hope Tattoo Quilt Block to turn it into a wall hanging. First I added batting and a backing. Did some quilting, … ….oh there’s more

Hope — Foundation Paper Piecing

Hope, Ruby Star Society

I have several projects I’d like to finish before heading back to North Dakota in April. The first was the backpack that I posted about last week. Now I’m working on the second—adding some “flare” to this denim jacket. I have many denim jackets and chambray shirts. I’ve been buying them over the years–I still have the first denim jacket … ….oh there’s more

“Got Your Back 2.1” Backpack

Posted on February 6, 2025 by Kathy GreenFebruary 5, 2025
Got Your Back 2.1

Finished. At Last. I found this backpack to be very difficult ONLY because there were many many thick seams to stitch through. My Juki TL18 did the job. But it wasn’t pretty. I was quietly cursing the entire time that I was doing the final steps–putting the front, sides, and band together. Too much “Soft n’ Stable” foam. Too many … ….oh there’s more
