NOT my August Wrap Up

Posted on September 7, 2023 by Kathy GreenSeptember 6, 2023 1

I had some really clever stuff that I wrote for this month’s wrap up. Very clever. But. My iPad is not being clever—or perhaps it is too clever for me. I typically write and edit my photos on both my iPad and laptop. No problem. But I only have my iPad this week and it has decided to turn on … ….oh there’s more

Sewing for the Kitchen

Posted on August 31, 2023 by Kathy GreenAugust 30, 2023

I just finished two pot holders and one hot pad for my kitchen. I’ve already posted these instructions in the past so you can just go here to make pot holders and here for hot pads. I’m going to throw a couple hints about the pot holders that might make it a little easier for you. But first I want … ….oh there’s more

Heart Blocks Done!

Posted on August 24, 2023 by Kathy GreenJanuary 7, 2024

I brought two Works in Progress (WIP) with me to our summer home. The first was the holiday quilt which I am happy to say that I put together in July. I will be doing all the trimming, basting, quilting, and binding when I get back to Florida where I have all the fun sewing tools. Looking forward to this … ….oh there’s more

table runner and placemats

In case you thought I had given up sewing for furniture refinishing, I have not. And here’s a post with my latest sewing project–Placemats and a Table Runner. But first, lets talk about the nine-year-old! Is nine years old the perfect age? It is if you are lucky enough to have parents and siblings and grandparents that love you and … ….oh there’s more

Dining Room Update

dining room chairs

Way before I started cutting up large pieces of fabric into small bits and sewing them back together into beautiful designs, I had lots of other creative endeavors. One was updating furniture. Annually I went to the Antique Extravaganza in Mount Dora plus hit local thrift stores to pick up old worn out furniture to change into a more modern … ….oh there’s more

July Wrap Up

table

It’s been a busy month! Lots of painting–on furniture and walls. Did I show you this table? My daughter-in-law got it for free and stripped and stained the top plus painted the bottom with Heirloom Traditions paint in bone. It’s been my inspiration for just about everything I’ve done to the house so far. Check out the detail… The stain … ….oh there’s more

Back to the sewing room!

Posted on July 23, 2023 by Kathy GreenJune 26, 2024

I have a new sewing machine. Yippee. And I pulled out the Christmas Quilt that I brought with me to finish. It’s been packed away for over two years. I based it on a quilt pattern that I purchased from Zen Chic—Sky. I made the quilt once and followed the instructions exactly. This time I enlarged the blocks plus did … ….oh there’s more

More Progress

halloween hexies

I fully intended to post last week but the days flew by and then it was this week. (Does that make sense?) My two granddaughters spent several days with us for “Grammy Camp”. Eight-year old Adley created lists of things to do and food to buy. We managed to squeeze it all in (plus more!) even though they still slept … ….oh there’s more

Progress

Posted on July 6, 2023 by Kathy GreenJuly 5, 2023

I always underestimate how long projects will take me. Especially when it involves restoring furniture. So far I have one chair finished. And she is lovely! Seven more to go! The table I plan to use in my sewing room has the top stripped and now I’m struggling with the sides. Haven’t even started the legs! Could be awhile before … ….oh there’s more

June Wrap Up

Athena

WE MOVED! This has been in the planning since we decided to buy the house in Mandan, ND many many months ago. The house had previously belonged to my son and daughter-in-law and we had helped remodel the basement for a “mother-in-law” suite. They went on to do a bunch of wonderful updates to the house. Terry and I were … ….oh there’s more
