Organizing — The Small Bits and Pieces
One more post about organization in my Creative Cave. (I’m not finished going through all my fabric and supplies but that will be posts for another day–in the months ahead.)
I’ve shown you the cabinets and boxes that I hide my fabric and supplies in. This one is about the items that get me through each project.
Trays. I have three or four that I use. Right now I am working on two quilty projects. A tray for each.
These trays also get put to work in the kitchen and family room when needed. Very versatile.
I also have many of these containers from Target in different sizes. These hold the five different colors for the Dinosaurs quilt plus different widths of green, white, and black that I have precut.
There are more in drawers in different sizes. SO handy. I buy more every time I go to Target. Fortunately, I don’t go all that often because we have no Target in our county.
As I mentioned last week, I keep this cart for my Cricut and drawing supplies. The magnetic holders on the side of the cart and the pencil and pen holders are from Amazon. These have been very useful in my Creative Cave.
That little holder for the Cricut tools? Not worth the money. Bought it because of a high recommendation on a blog for quilting tools. It’s pretty, but that’s it. Yes, it is holding those Cricut tools upright but a cup can do that.
I use Milk Glass and other pretty containers for my quilting tools. I have several that I keep close to my work areas. I think they were from my grandmother. Blue and white is my favorite color combo so these are just a natural choice.
This display shelf is another item I saw on a blog. In a kitchen. Holding spice jars. So pretty. I really really really wanted it for a long time. I think it’s from West Elm. They were having a sale and after many months of really really really wanting it, I bought it. I still love it. Now it holds mason jars of pretty supplies. In the past it has held other collections. I’m sure it will be put to other uses in the future. For now, it’s lovely to look at. And keeps these seldom used items handy.
I’m not going into each of the drawers in my cabinets. There are a lot. Mostly organized in Target containers. I still want to go through each to toss and sort.
I do have one last disorganized craft. A friend gave me a bunch of supplies for leather work. It’s still in boxes in the closet in my laundry room. I pull them out once in awhile and wonder when I’m going to learn this new craft. And do I want to? Only time will tell!
Meanwhile it’s time to pretty up the space!
