More Hearts
A post to follow up on last week’s heart blocks….
If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know I really have a thing for hearts. And stars. Both are used extensively in my quilts and other projects.
And since we are approaching the day dedicated to love, thought I’d throw some more hearts here.
On Pinterest, one of my most popular pins is this Heart Block. You can find the pattern at that link.
A few years ago I updated the instructions for this log cabin style block plus a strip style block. You can get the free PDF tutorials on this post. Both are fun to make. I think the strip style is easier. (Although I have occasionally put background corners on backwards!)
Both of these blocks come in really handy. I’ve made mug rugs with them, put one on a purse, plus added them to pillows.
I put some of the “orphans” in my window yesterday so I’d have a Valentine’s Garland. (I hope to have a fun new garland up every month or at least for every holiday. Part of my goal to prettify my creative cave.)
The tiny heart string is crocheted. I went through a spell several years ago where I was crocheting constantly. Then I started sewing and pretty much abandoned crochet but I think I’ll start back up. Some day. Soon.
The little felt hearts are SO EASY PEASY! I just cut out heart shapes. Put a little poly fill in, add a ribbon. Stitch around the shape. And you can make a BUNCH of them for all of your friends in an afternoon.
I’m stitching up a bunch for Galentine’s Day! Yes. There will be a party!
Meanwhile, I’ve cut up blue strips to make five more hearts for my future valentine’s quilt.
If you’d like more heart ideas, you can click on this post from two years ago. Enjoy!
