Moda BlockHeads 3, Blocks 21 and 22
Another two blocks finished! Yay! And I really love these two!
I usually wait a few days after the release of each new block to check out what the other quilters have created on FB. When Block 21 came out, Hugs and Kisses from Lissa Alexander, I looked at it and said, “Oh, That’s cute!” And figured I’d check out all the other pretty offerings as usual.
Then later that day I visited Zen Chic Brigitte Heitland’s version of the Hugs and Kisses block. I was more like “WOW!” And got right to work.
I love the more modern take of this block!
It took me a while to figure out how to change the original format to fit the Zen Chic style. I had to draw a picture and get the colored pencils out!
I did mine in pinks since I thought that would be perfect for Hugs and Kisses. Plus I needed another pinkish block.
I think this would be really cute as a baby quilt. Lots of Xs and Os. But this block was a bit difficult for me. Jack the Ripper was used more than once. There will probably not be a baby quilt made entirely of “stitch and flip”
Next up was block 22 from Laurie Simpson. This one is called Hens and Chicks. I again went to Brigitte Heitland’s version. So Pretty!
I changed my blocks on my design wall to have the ombre effect that is also Brigitte Heitland’s final quilt layout. Here is the Zen Chic style:
And here’s mine.
OH MMMM GEE
That is way too busy! I think my layout will end up a bit different. But I do have 22 blocks done!
