Moda BlockHeads 3, Blocks 19 and 20
I started out with Block 19 from Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic. This block is paper-pieced which is one of my favorite patchwork methods. And I also usually like pink and orange together.
But I really didn’t care much for my version. I thought it looked like a radiation sign. “Warning. Warning. Danger. Danger!”
Okay, maybe I have an overactive imagination. Maybe more like a fan blade?
Anyhow, then I moved onto Block 20. Which turned out really pretty. The orange and pink go well together with this block and I like the black highlights. This block is from Lisa Bongean and she is known for creating blocks with many many many pieces. I wisely made this one in the 12″ size.
And then, since I had plenty of time before the next block came out (that was yesterday) and I was so unhappy with block 19. I made another version.
Same paper-pieced pattern but I made it in the 6″ size. Four of them. In all these bright and happy colors. And then I had to over-think how I would put them together….
And ended up with this version…..
Rather than a nuclear disaster sign, I think this one looks like four happy beach balls!
I’m keeping my first block 19 in the mix for now. Here’s my blocks so far!
I think that they look very happy together. But busy. Very very busy. I think I might have to put a solid color sashing between them when I get ready to make the final version. Just so the eye has a place to rest!
Thirty-six more blocks to go!
