Moda BlockHeads 3, Block 6
Block six is from Lisa Bongeon and it is called Magic. And it had so many wee triangles that I made the wise choice to go back to the 12″ size block.
Lisa suggests using her triangle papers. Supposed to make half-square triangles (HST) quick and easy. I didn’t have any so just used this tutorial from Beech Tree Lane Handmade to make 8 HSTs at the same time. Easy Peasy. Made it three times cause I needed 24.
Then I squared up the triangles to their unfinished size of 2″ with the
I bought it a few years ago to make my Run, Run, Reindeer quilt.
Using those two tricks, I had no trouble with the triangles. I did have problems with the pin wheel in the center of the block, though. I had to remake two of the spinning pieces. I just couldn’t get the sides to match up. Why the first two worked and the second two didn’t is beyond my understanding!
But I finished and it’s pretty! I’m really glad that I did break down and buy some more yellow and orange. This is not a typical color combo for me but I think it makes this block POP!
All of my blocks so far!
New block came out yesterday so I’m three blocks behind! Think I need to spend some extra time in my sewing room!
