Moda BH3 Blocks 53, 54 and 55! One more to go!
I had grand plans on this past Sunday to have all of these blocks done plus my first quilt from the blocks all stitched together and maybe even getting the last block done as soon as it came out on Wednesday.
But my sewing machine had other plans. It had a minor breakdown. And is now at the local quilt shop getting a spa treatment. Poor thing has been overused during this pandemic so possibly deserves the break. I have another sewing machine that has been in my laundry room collecting dust. It’s a good machine. An older Bernina that I was using for the “Sew Cool” workshop that I attended weekly until last March. When the world shut down.
Anyhow…..
Here are the most recent blocks that I finished.
Block 53
I like “Bear Claw” blocks so really enjoyed making this one by Robin Pickens which she calls “Bear Cubs around the Campfire”. The orange in the center represents that campfire! I needed two more 6″ blocks for my “neutral” quilt and I’m just about out of that fabric.
Block 54
Next up was “Windmills” by Janet Clare. While I needed another 6″ block, this one had about 2000 pieces so I made it in 12″. I can use it for either my “blue and pink” or the “happy” version. I like windmill blocks so this block was fun, too.
Block 55
And last for this week is “Wine Not!” by Jen Kingwell. Her blocks are usually difficult but his was easy! A gift to all of us who have stuck through the end! I did this in 6″.
Here are all three blocks. You can download the tutorials at Moda Blockheads 3 archives.
And here is my most recent layout of my “neutral” quilt that I’m making from 21 of the Moda Blockheads 3 blocks.
Here are the blocks that I might be using for the second quilt….
And the rest of the happy blocks!
I’ll be pulling my old Bernina out of the laundry room today so I can start piecing. I can’t do quilting on it but it is a fine piecing machine!
Next week. Hopefully will have some progress!
