Several months ago I spotted the Mod Meow fabric by Amanda Niederhauser For Riley Blake on Instagram. I even showed it to my daughter in November when we visited for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available until March.

And I didn’t have anything to make with it. Even though I LOVED it. I’m really trying to only buy fabric that I have a purpose for. (Purposeful sewing?)

Then I found out that daughter Jes, son-in-law Andrew, and their cat Whiskey was coming to visit. I had a purpose! A new kitty blanket!

I ordered the Mod Meow Panel and one yard of fabric in cream from Connecting Threads. The panel is no longer available there but I did see that it is on Etsy. That’s a problem with not ordering the fabric right away. It goes out of stock and they don’t make more!

I only used one of the cats on the panel for the blanket along with a plant. Heat ‘n Bond Lite for both and I stitched them down where the corner of the blanket would be. I have a bunch of cats left for another project or two (or three)!

I had some pink minky left from another quilty project that I pieced together for the back.

And then Whiskey came to visit. She was quite interested in the squirrels. Not so interested in the blanket.

And she really liked my sewing room.

But she was not interested in a modeling job!

I finally just put it on the bench that she likes to sit on while watching the squirrels. (and obviously the rain!)

Success!

Getting a cat to pose is a whole different scenario than getting a pooch to model. But it can be done!

Happy to say that after two days of raining “cats and dogs” the sun came out! And Whiskey has been enjoying life in Florida!
