Knitting and Meandering
Okay.
To continue with last week’s post,
I have finally leaned to both knit and purl. In hindsight I wish I had bought some less expensive yarn to practice on. But, if I hadn’t bought the pricey kit, I wouldn’t have actually started knitting. Because I wasn’t going to waste that much money by not actually using the kit! (It’s my own kind of crazy circular logic.)
After knitting, purling, and unraveling (a lot) I’ve decided to just use this first skein of lovely yarn to practice, practice, practice. (Back when I was trying to learn how to golf, my husband would say “perfect practice makes perfect” and I would say what the **** does that mean? NO, I never did get better at golf.) I have made samples of the garter stitch, rib stitch, and the seed stitch plus learned how to bind off.
Anyhow, after I’ve done a LOT of practicing, I might order a couple more skeins from Purl Soho and make an amazing scarf that I will wear when it is cold. Which was just last week but spring has finally arrived here in North Dakota! (Although today we had wind gusts of 50 mph, it might take me a few years to get used to this!)
If anyone has some great blogs or YouTube videos that I should be following about knitting, let me know! And I bought a book! I’m committed to learn how to do this new textile craft. Even after I finally get moved into my new creative cave and get back to sewing. I will knit. Everyone will be getting scarves or socks for Christmas next year! Even if you live in Florida and it’s 90 degrees at Christmas!
Speaking of progress on the new sewing space–NONE. But the future is looking bright–I’m meeting with a painter to get an estimate to brighten up the space and the French doors will be delivered on Friday! Woohoo! Getting closer to moving in! (And I’ll probably need to get some new really cool quilty furniture!)
And here was my blooming surprise for this week!
