July Wrap Up
It’s been a busy month! Lots of painting–on furniture and walls.
Did I show you this table?
My daughter-in-law got it for free and stripped and stained the top plus painted the bottom with Heirloom Traditions paint in bone.
It’s been my inspiration for just about everything I’ve done to the house so far.
Check out the detail…
The stain is a special mix from Sherwin Williams.
I stripped and sanded this table (one of my FB market finds) and used the same stain.
Then I painted the dining room a pale blue.
Plus I bought inexpensive curtains from Amazon for the dining room and the kitchen. (Cheaper than buying the fabric and making them!) Plus a new rod.
Finished painting part of the kitchen with a linen color which almost matches the curtains.
Then I moved into the living room with the same paint shade.
My granddaughters are not happy with “WHITE”! Adley even said that she thought she might go blind from staring at the walls! Told them to wait for me to hang some artwork before getting all judgmental.
So I’ve put both granddaughters to work creating some colorful artwork for those blank walls!
Finished this Christmas quilt top the very last day of July! just in time to meet the “Christmas in July” deadline!
I still need to trim, baste, quilt and bind but I’m doing that when I get back to Florida. Quilt top is already packed and ready for the journey!
There’s an Instagram challenge to make one Hexie a day for 100 days. Might join in since I’m making several a day anyhow! #100days100hexies2023
Also the Moda Blockheads are starting up a new quilt-a-long in September. I don’t plan on joining up but I will be checking out all the designs.
I read three books—you can check them out over their on my Reading Icon.
I don’t have many flowers in my yard so I haven’t been sharing blooming photos. But I do have turkeys! Which fascinates Athena! She even has a little staccato cat noise that she makes when she talks to them!

Great job! Love the girl’s artwork! My cats talk to hummingbirds and I just love the faces they make when they talk. Glad you are enjoying your summer home.
Interesting that your cats talk to the hummingbirds. Probably the same way Athena does to the turkeys. We are enjoying the weather here in ND. So much better than Florida but we will be heading back in a few weeks. Just in time for the hurricanes that come after Labor Day!
