In the Garden

I had planned on featuring a quilt today but didn’t get it quite finished. I’m hand stitching the binding and it is taking FOREVER! I’m really happy with how the quilt is turning out and can’t wait to show it to you! Meanwhile, thought I’d share some garden pictures. Gardening is probably my favorite hobby AFTER sewing and I try to spend a few hours each week with my flowers!

daylilies — It’s late in the season for day lilies, but they continue to brighten up my yard!

Caladiums — Love caladiums and the many different color variations! They come up year and year.

Shooting Star Hydrandea — I have two varieties of hydrangea and this shooting star is my favorite. It blooms from spring until frost! So pretty!

cardinal — I have a bird feeder in one of the gardens.

My first year for torenia. I only bought them because when Piper was visiting earlier in the spring, she went shopping with me for annuals and thought these would be pretty. I thought, they will be lucky to live in this heat. But they are thriving! Definitely will be planted next spring, too!

I never planted ANY of these vincas. Two years ago, I did have a pot of vincas and a climbing mandevilla. The mandevilla did not do well and when Winter came, I tossed them all out but not before the vinca had cast their seeds everywhere! I’ve had them do this before but never quite so prodigiously!

In the Garden — Love the blue of plumbago

Plumeria — One of my many plumeria. Easy to care for and so beautiful!

I haven’t seen many butterflies this year. I don’t use pesticides in my yard and I have a lot of blooms that butterflies like so I don’t know where they all are! This is a Zebra Longwing on a Jatropha.
