Hope
Hope.
Love that thought. Right now we could all use some hope.
I also like Peace. And Love.
Anyhow.
I found this quilt pattern on Instagram. (I am a total sucker for Instagram. My iPad is devoted to giving me the latest fabric, quilt design, home decor, and Florida Wildlife pics.)
Anyhow. I came across this pattern for the Tattoo Quilt Block from Happy Sew Lucky on Instagram #tattooquilt #tattooquiltsewalong. And bought it.
The tutorial is very well written and the pattern is color coded which was nice.
I consider myself an advanced sewist. And pretty good at Foundation Paper Piecing which is the method for this block. It was REALLY HARD!
And messy with all those little paper bits….
I thought I was doing a really good job of matching up all the points and astericks. When I put all the pieces together things did not match up. (And I didn’t really like the green with dots I used for the banner ends. Looks like the swallows are eating pizza!) I considered ripping it out and starting all over but I had already done that a few times and how many times will fabric put up with Jack the Ripper?
So I accepted my less than perfect block. Turned it into a wall hanging. Put it in my window.
But I knew I could do better. So I tried again. I took it slow. Spent several days putting all the bits and pieces together.
And still it’s not perfect. But it’s better. Number three would probably be closer to perfect.
Now, I digress. I made this Peace wall hanging a few years ago.
I pulled a FPP from Pinterest and designed the rest of the quilt myself. I liked it but didn’t love it. I contemplated on how it could be better and decided that here was just too much white space. Then I proceeded to just slice and dice it up to the just about the size of the first Hope wall hanging. Put the same quilt bias binding on it.
So much better!
Now I’m happy with the pair of little quilts. And probably need to make a third with “Love”!
Since my daughter is visiting this week and I already gave the cat a Mod Meow blanket, think I’ll send the second, almost perfect, Hope Tattoo block home with her.

Wow! That turned out great. You really are a master at paper piecing. I appreciate your help (suggestion) for paper piecing as the “LOVE” that I pieced turned out good. (wink ~ with a couple of tries)
Thanks Pamela! I’m glad I was able to help you with the LOVE block. I love to paper piece even though it’s messy and slow. But the reward is how nice and precise the points are!
