Handmade Holiday Gifts 2023
This year I made TEN beer bags for gifts.
I call them beer bags only because I designed them to hold a six pack of beer. But they are also good for other uses–not just holding beer!
For one, they are great for storage. This is my stash of Bonnie and Camille fabric which I’ve been saving for a few years for a special project. (Not sure what that project is yet!)
And they are great for gift bags. I threw all kinds of fun goodies inside each bag. (not one got beer!)
This bag went to a fellow cat lover, Terry. It was the only bag I didn’t grab a snapshot of and after she read this post she sent me these photos with her sweet cat (who will be an internet sensation now!) I had to add the picture!
The fabric (applique and interior) is by Amanda Niederhauser, a designer with Riley Blake Designs. I wish I had more of just these black cats and mice in columns but it has been discontinued. (very sad face) I still have several of the appliques and have used them on a few projects–but not for myself yet! (Maybe on a jacket? hmmmmm)
I used the Linear fabric from Ruby Star Society on several of the bags. My favorite print is Rebel Sunbeam. I have other projects I’ll be using it for in the new year.
The exterior came out of my denim stash–I still have a lot left. All the bags have a pocket and a pocket peep inside.
These bags are relatively easy and fun to make and the tutorial is free! But I have to say after ten, I’m burnt out on making beer bags! Think I need to move on to a quilt!

Love how you make them personalized! Great job!
Thanks for sending the pictures! I updated the post with the cat bag. And the cat, of course!
