From Cherry Blossoms to Snowfall to Spring Thaw
I arrived back in North Dakota last Tuesday. When we landed there was a light dusting of snow. By the next morning we had a lovely 3” layer of beautiful pristine white snow. So pretty…..
But it’s APRIL—enough with the snow!
By Sunday most of the snow had melted. And it’s supposed to be in the 60s by the end of this week. Yippee.
When I left for DC, I had one expectation on my return. I had hired a contractor to remodel our kitchen. Building on the same footprint but new cabinets and appliances. All the cabinets had already arrived before we left and most of the appliances were ready.
Four months later. The old kitchen is gone but I do not have a new one. Contractor ran into some “problems”. Now he promises to be done by June. So I have two months sans working kitchen.
Fortunately we have a “Mother-in-law” suite in the basement. (We used to live there for some part of every summer when my son and daughter-in-law owned the house.) The kitchen is wee. But better than nothing!
A few weeks before we headed to DC, the heater died in my beautiful sewing studio. We called an HVAC company in and the diagnosis was that fixing it would cost as much as a new system. KaChing! So I’ve had four months to decide what I’m doing about that. And still haven’t. Hey, it will eventually warm up. Do I really need heat?
I’m back to sewing in my dining room! Which is okay for now. The weather is warming and I’ll be into my studio soon and I can procrastinate on replacing or fixing the heater for a few more months!
And I will persevere. Because the sun will come out and the earth will warm and I think I might have a garden this year.
Should I get chickens? A goat? A puppy?
All is well in North Dakota.

Glad the weather is warming! Enjoy
Still cold Terry, but I’m sure I will appreciate the weather more in July!
