DIY Beer Bag
I’m supposed to be putting more of my kitchen linens up today.
But I got distracted.
Invited to a UFO party.
Which I knew about for over a month but waited until the morning of the party to consider what I was bringing as a hostess gift.
I’ve been thinking about hostess gifts lately. A lot. Because it’s that time of year. Parties, dinners, events. I hate to arrive empty handed.
For this party I decided to make a “Beer Bag” (kind of like a wine bag only better). I made one a couple of years ago.
You can go to this Beer Boo Bag link to get the tutorial.
I pulled some fabric out that I had stashed away for the exterior. I used it last year for an Easy-Peasy pillow.
This is still available at Fabric.com but in a different color.
Then used denim for the interior which I still have drawers and drawers full of! (The last time my son-in-law was here he asked me what was the deal with all of the denim in the dresser in the guest room. What? No, I’m not a hoarder.Okay. Maybe I am!)
I am always posting that I do NOT use polyester webbing because it melts. Well, I found the exact length of polyester webbing that I needed for this bag in one of my baskets. And I didn’t have time to run to the fabric store which is 35 minutes away. (I did start sewing this the morning of the party and I still needed to get a few items that we needed for our costumes!) So I just didn’t let this bag get near the iron! No melting involved. (Or cursing)
If you check out the “Boo Beer Bag” tutorial, I did make one change. Rather than putting them on as the last step, I added the straps as the first step onto the top of the bag so I wouldn’t have to finish the ends. Trying to save time! One inch from each side.
The really fun thing about this bag is that it’s reversible! So when Halloween and the Day of the Dead are past, you can just turn the denim side out!
Then I decided that I probably needed to make a couple of aliens to take along! (Okay, I’m going to admit that I made these in the Sew Cool! Workshop cause they are easy-peasy and I can help people and sew these adorable creatures!)
You can get the free pattern from LemonSqueezyHome.com
Here’s Terry and I. Men in Black 2. Terry’s Agent T. I’m the alien Serleena. With my little pet alien. ( I wanted the pug Frank—my very favorite character in all these movies—but really didn’t want to adopt a dog just to go to a party!)
Keeping the world safe!
Next Tuesday, back to Kitchen Linens. I’m thinking seasonal potholders might make nice hostess gifts, too!
