Cats in Pajamas, The Pillow Version!
I made the “Dinosaurs” quilt by Elizabeth Hartman a few years ago. It turned out great but took FOREVER! Many, many little pieces.

But I thought I was ready to take on another Elizabeth Hartman pattern, “Cats in Pajamas”.
“These are too cute. I will make cat quilts for the three younger grandkids—Piper, Adley, and Arthur. And they will love me for making them!”
And I made the first cat block……
I immediately had flashbacks to making the Dinosaurs quilt and said to myself….
“Pillows! I should make PIllows!”
And that is what PIper and Adley got for Easter this year!

To match their cats, Barnaby and Yuki.

They are Devon Rex cats. Short haired and tall eared. Yuki is white and Barnaby is a chocolate point. And I think they are very cold with those short coats in cold cold cold North Dakota. (Should have make them little quilts!)
The pattern comes with a tutorial for two quilt sizes and a pillow and I followed the instructions for the pillow.
Started out with the blocks…..

The pattern calls for a 24” pillow form but Walmart (which is my closest store and I only had a few days to finish the pillows) only had 26″ Euro PIllow forms.
The pillow forms weren’t very stuffed so I added borders to make the blocks fit a 25” size. (I could have just made the 24″ size, that’s how little fill was in this form!)
The instructions made an “envelope” style pillow which I have made numerous times. But the designer calls for binding on the back pieces. I was a little hesitant on changing my ways but, really, the binding is brilliant! Easier than hemming and it adds a little bit of flair to the back.

The girls sent me these pictures after our Easter celebration.
This is Adley…..
And Piper (she’s 14, blessed that I got a picture of her legs and hands!)…..
And Yuki……
And one last photo of these cuddlebugs!
I’ll still be making the quilt, but just one. (For now!)
